There’s been a continuing move away from proprietary and closed systems for FTI networks, towards more open and commercially based Ethernet systems. Typical advantages of Ethernet include high data throughput, easily integrable COTS equipment, the proliferation of commercial tools and flexible yet highly reliable system architectures. ACRA CONTROL’s NET-500 range includes highly ruggedised Ethernet switches and IP recorders.
 

The KAM-500, with the addition of the new KAD/BCU/105 backplane controller, is a fully IEEE-1588 compliant Ethernet node with data synchronisation across multiple DAUs to better than the order of tens of nanoseconds. Using the KAD/EBM/101 module, the Ethernet frames can be non-intrusively captured on the network and encapsulated into a PCM frame for transmission.
